When I originally downloaded Desktop Smileys, I thought it was going to be similar to Smiley Central and after downloading the software, I was right. Once installed, the program will be accessible through your browser. The smileys are accessible through your browser and very similar functionality to SmileyCentral. Desktop Smiley has a smooth looking friendly interface with a quick and easy installation. Their software also includes a bunch of add-ons. I’ve included descriptions for their add-ons below. Here is a screenshot of their installer. As you can see, its a quick and easy-to-use installer that takes less than a minute to install.

Category Selection

Just like the rest of the smiley softwares, all categories are further broke down into subcategories. For example, the category sports contains Baseball, Basketball, Bowling, Boxing, Martial Arts, Rugby, Soccer, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Weight Lift, etc. Quite a few categories to choose from. Also quite a few subcategories.

A couple of notes: Windows Vista users will experience a small issue but it can be quickly rectified by doing the following:

• On the Internet Explorer shortcut: Right-Click and select Properties
• In the “Shortcut” tab, click “Advanced? button
• Check “Run as administrator”
• Click “Ok” button.
• Then open the Internet Explorer again and right click the IE toolbar area. Select ” DesktopSmiley Toolbar”.
• The Toolbar will be shown now.

Lastly, DesktopSmiley is only compatible with IE 6 and up.

Additional Features

In addition to receiving Crawler Smileys, you will also receive a few other programs such as ecards. The toolbar itself also has additional functionality such as the following:

• Cursors: Customize your desktop cursor. Very similar to the smileys interface. You simply select a cursor and insert. Here’s what the cursors area looks like:

• Glitters: Add glitter and cool graphics to your MySpace and other social networking profiles. Very similar to the smileys interface. You simply select a glitter and get the insert code.
• Wallpapers: Links to a screensavers website. Here’s a screen capture of what it looks like.

• Screensavers: Links to a screensavers website.
• Games: Links to a “”games” webpage that allows you to play free games right in the browser. Pretty cool
• Recipes: This links to Daily Free Recipes which in my opinion is a pretty cool website. It included recipes for everything you can think of. Anything from appetizers to desserts to seafood.
• Ringtones: The ringtones link goes to ad ad-infested page.
• Free Stuff: Leads the visitor to an incentivized site.
